NYCRC Restructured
Michael Meyers, a co-founder of the Coalition, and a member of the Coalition’s six-member Steering Committee, was hired as the Coalition’s second Executive Director, replacing Galen Kirkland. Meyers reorganized the NYCCRC, dropping “City” from its name. New York Civil Rights Coalition was restructured as a not-for-profit, and applied for and got tax-exempt recognition from IRS as a 501(c)3 public charity. The governance body was transformed into a board of directors. The Board continued the allied groups as a confederation of partners.
